Qualification for Candidates Begin

Candidates for county commission, sheriff and board of education were some of whom qualified for local races on Monday.  Other positions were School District and Coroner.

Coronavirus: Forsyth County Schools Plan

Forsyth County School District is taking precaution in case of an outbreak of the new coronavirus.   The new Coronavirus, which originated in China is now called COVID-19. It's caused by a member of the Coronavirus that's a close cousin to the SARS and MERS viruses.

According to a press release ---Effective Jan. 1, all 26 imaging centers within the Northside Hospital system that provide mammography services, as well as the ScreenAtlanta mobile mammography van, will offer digital breast tomosynthesis, also known as 3D mammography. Women who schedule a mammogram now have the latest screening and diagnostic technology available to them.

Student Art Wall Challenge

One young, local artist will soon have their work on display at Halcyon according to a press release.

Halcyon, a mixed-use facility in south Forsyth, is hosting the Student Art Wall Challenge. Students are invited to submit an original design for an outdoor mural with the theme “What does Halcyon mean to you?”

SR 400 will have various scheduled north and southbound lane closures related to work being completed on the Pilgrim Mill Rd. bridge (weather permitting).

Issuing of Absentee Ballots Begins

Absentee ballots available for the March 24 Presidential Preference Primary

On Feb. 4, the Forsyth County Voter Registrations and Elections office began issuing absentee ballots for the March 24 Presidential Preference Primary. Applications for absentee ballots for this primary can be requested through March 20.

Massage Spa in South Forsyth License Revoked

After violations of the county’s massage and spa ordinance, a south Forsyth business has had its license revoked .  At the regular meeting on Thursday, Forsyth County Commissioners voted 5-0 to revoke the massage license for Wanli Inc., doing business as Massage Harmony Spa at 2130 Peachtree Parkway, and licensee Chunlan Wang.
