Smokey Rescued by Fire Department Finds a New Home

Members from the Cumming Police Department, Forsyth County Fire and Animal Control worked together to rescue a kitten from under the hood of a vehicle.

Officer Howie Corrigan received a call regarding a woman hearing an animal noise coming from her vehicle.  She told 911 operators that she heard a crying noise.  She pulled her vehicle over and saw something furry inside her engine.

After the first responders freed the kitten, the animal ran into traffic and climbed into the undercarriage of a parked vehicle.  They then had to perform a second extraction to remove the kitten from this vehicle.  After the second rescue they were able to calm the kitten down.

The kitten, now named Smokey by the responding officers is being held at The Forsyth County Animal shelter and being adopted by Officer Corrigan.

Officer Corrigan moved here a few years ago and the family lost their cat.  Once released from the shelter “Smokey” will find her furever home with the Corrigan family.
