For the first time since 1971, the City of Cumming elected a new mayor.

In January 2018, Troy Brumbalow was sworn into office as the mayor of Cumming. Brumbalow was joined by two other new council-members, Chad Crane and Jason Evans.

Each beat out the three incumbents for their seats. Brumbalow took nearly 60 percent of the votes over longtime Mayor H. Ford Gravitt who had held the gavel for nearly 50 years.

The beginning of a new era for change in the City of Cumming is what was in store for the area.
