RocaPoint Partners' plan for a connected development bringing together nature and neighbors in Forsyth County is beginning to come to fruition.

With the exterior construction of Halcyon, Forsyth County's newest mixed-use village, nearing completion and tenants overseeing the build out of their individual spaces, project partners are targeting a summer opening for the $370-million, 135-acre mixed-use village located at Exit 12 off Ga. 400.

The construction of Halcyon's first phase includes a 160,000-square-foot retail village, 38,000-square-foot luxury dine-in cinema and Market Hall is at or above 80 percent of completion.

In late April, the first Valley Forge Elm trees were planted in the future heart of the property. This is the green space adjacent to Market Hall which features a mix of food and beverage offerings. As the trees mature they will provide a canopy of shade and create a place for residents and guests to dine outdoors, bring their four-legged friends or just enjoy the public space. Hardscaping, including sidewalks, paths and other signage, are currently being implemented into the project. Halcyon's developers are also extending and connecting to the Big Creek Greenway with a pedestrian bridge.  The bridge is now 70 percent completed and expected to open to the public by the end of the month, and a more-welcoming trailhead.

Retail leasing activity for the project, handled by JLL, also remains strong. Recently announced retailers slated to open at the mixed-use village include national dog daycare provider Dogtopia, Texas-based Diesel Barbershop, local group Optima Eye Care and local, award-winning bakery It's a Sweet Life.

In addition to the mix of restaurants and retailers opening at Halcyon, Edward Andrews Homes, Monte Hewitt Homes and Greystar will bring a mix of 665 single-family homes, town homes and apartment homes to the development. After recently opening the interest list for prospective residents, Edward Andrews Homes received an overwhelmingly strong response with 700 members and growing. Located on the retail village side of the project, Monte Hewitt Homes has begun vertical construction of the model homes.
