UPDATE: Two killed in accident on Ga. 400

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Ga. Hwy. 400 near Henry Grady Highway in Dawson County Monday.

At approximately 1:32 p.m. a 2003 Lincoln Town Car was traveling south on Ga. Hwy. 400 in the left lane.  A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Ga. Hwy. 400 in the right lane.  The Lincoln Town Car left the roadway, crossed the median, traveled into the northbound lanes, and collided head on with the Chevrolet Silverado.

The Lincoln Town Car was driven by 56-year-old Tony Ray Chastain from Dawsonville.  The Chevrolet Silverado was driven by 63-year-old Colquitt Juanez Thompson from Dahlonega.

Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.  There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

Distracted driving does not appear to be a factor in this crash.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in this crash.

It was raining at the time of the crash and the roadways were wet, however neither appeared to be a factor in this crash.

The northbound lanes were closed for the investigation and cleanup until approximately 3:30 p.m.
