Chicken House Destroyed in Fire

The fire, which was called in at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, destroyed the building, which was being used to store equipment and hay.

Forsyth County Fire Department said the building burned from end to end, and that the design presented a challenge for firefighters, “as the building burns and collapses, the tin roof falls down on everything beneath it, so firefighters have to remove the tin to extinguish the remaining fire.”

Residents in a nearby subdivision who could see the smoke, reported the fire.  The smoke could be seen to downtown Cumming.

No one was injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
