Development Authority Members

New members for two development authorities, a change to the 2018 budget and renewing alcohol licenses were some of the items discussed at Tuesday’s Cumming City Council.

At the meeting, members were approved for two groups.  The groups are aimed at attracting businesses: the city’s development authority and downtown development authority.

Mayor Troy Brumbalow said not all of the members live in the city limits, which City Attorney Kevin Tallant said was not a requirement.

At a previous meeting, Kevin Tallant said the authority was first created in the 1970s and brought back “several years ago,” though the terms of those members have expired.

Members of the authority are Lisa Mason, Eric Bennett, Brad Garmon, David Leathers, Eric Kimbral, Kelly Lamb and Councilwoman Linda Ledbetter.

The development authority passed by a 3-0 vote with members Linda Ledbetter and Lewis Ledbetter recused.

The downtown development authority will be an all-new group. Under state law, each city in the state has the option to have such an authority but must be activated by local elected leaders.
