VFW Post 9143 will host Cumming's Veterans Day Ceremony

At 11 a.m. on Friday Novemberr 9th, the memorial will host the City of Cumming's Veterans Day ceremony, which is organized this year by Vererans of Foreign Wars Post 9143.

Along with the VFW, The American Legion Post 307 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1030, who rotate hosting the ceremony, will read the names of Forsyth County's WWI service members on the 100th anniversary of the end of the War.

The day was known as Armistice Day until 1954, when it became Veterans Day under President Eisenhower.

The event's keynote speaker is Congressman Doug Collins, who represents north Forsyth and northeast Georgia.  Geoorgia VFW state commander Charles "Tony" Dobbins and Mayor Troy Brumbalow will address the crowd.  The ceremony will also feature songs from Christian Fine Arts of Forsyth Choir and the Forsyth Central High School Flash of Crimson Band.  North Forsyth High School's Marine Corps JROTC cadets and members of the Forsyth County Fire Department and Forsyth County Sheriff's office joint honor guard will present national, state and military branch flags.

The Veterans War Memorial is located at 301 Veterans Memorial Blvd.
