Family Promise of Forsyth
Every Family Promise has a space where the families can be...
Family Promise opened a new day center and office facility on Hutchinson Road this past Tuesday. Murilo Galdino, 8 years old held the giant scissors in his hand to officially cut the ribbon to the new location. Family Promise has a 30 to 90 day program that helps homelss families regain sustainable independence. They live in Family Promise-host churches a week at a time while volunteers help with services from childcare and transportation, to job searching and financial literacy classes. Little Murilo Galdino's family is one of many families to graduate the program. Tina Huck, executive director of the local Family Promise affilate knew that this organization needed its own facility. She assembled a Day Center Task Force last November, and the group canvassed the county for a suitable facility. They found one in a small business complex on Hutchinson Road. After working for years in host churches and a single office space provided by The Place of Forsyth County, it is great to have a real home.
