The deadline to register to vote in the presidential primaries is Monday, January 7th.  The Georgia Democratic and Republican presidential primaries will be held on February 5, 2008.  In Georgia, you do not register by political party, but you may only vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary, not both.

To register to vote, Georgia citizens must complete the voter registration application.  You can obtain this form by:
    * Downloading a voter registration application (www.sos.georgia.gov/elections - then click on voter registration).
    * Contacting your local county board of registrars' office or election office, public library, public assistance office, recruitment office, schools and other government offices for a mail-in registration form.
    * E-mailing your request for a voter registration form to the Office of the Secretary of State), or write to Office of the Secretary of State, Elections Division, Suite 1104 West Tower, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30334-1505. Please include your name and mailing address.
    
Additionally, you can register when you renew or apply for your drivers license at the Department of Motor Vehicle Safety drivers license posts.  College students can obtain Georgia voter registration forms, or the necessary forms to register in any state in the U.S., from their school registrar's office or from the office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

The application must be postmarked by the end of the day Monday.

You will be required to provide a photo ID to vote.  Georgia law now requires that voters show any valid state or federal government issued ID, including the free voter ID card.  The free voter ID card is available from your county registrar or the Georgia Department of Driver Services.  Valid US pasports, military ID, valid tribal photo identification, or a Georgia driver's license are acceptable forms of identification.
