The Lake Lanier Association announces Shore SuperSweep |
|
With the low lake level and large exposed shore line, a great opportunity to clean up Lake Lanier is underway. Large amounts of trash are now visible on the newly exposed shore and the Lake Lanier Association has organized Shore SuperSweep. The association is asking the public to donate some of their time when convenient to volunteer and help clean up the shoreline.
If your organization would like to schedule a group cleanup, volunteers with the Lake Lanier Association will help you organize the clean-up. Trash bags are made available and Association volunteers will recommend areas to be cleaned.
Designated dumpsters are available for trash drop off via road access only. Dumpsters have been placed in Little Ridge Park in Cumming and Van Pugh Park South in Flowery Branch. Holiday Marina, Gainesville Marina, and Port Royale Marina are also offering designated dumpsters and will have trash bags available. Batteries and tires should not be placed in dumpsters but next to them for special handling.
J & J Disposal in Gainesville has provided the dumpsters and S & S Hardware and Mower in Buford has donated trash bags.
For more information, please call the association's special Shore Sweep phone number 678-430-8950 or email the association office (lakeinfo @ lakelanier.org)
