Some of the top planning officials for the greater Altanta area and a few county commissioners in surrounding counties recently claimed that the Atlanta area's rapid uncontrolled growth is not adding to the drought situation. In contrast to this statement the residents undergo annual water shortages without droughts for the last 10 years during the recent era of rapid growth. What anyone can see is that growth has spread valuable water resources too thin and now we can not survive a drought as easily. Many people are aware proper planning has not been done. This outspoken ignorance and blame pointing by the elected officials has embarresed all the residents of the area who elected them to manage the natural resources.
