Forsyth County Looking at Other Water Options |
|
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is looking for other options for supplying the county's 160,000+ residents with water. Currently, Lake Lanier is the sole provider of the county's water supply. Weekly meetings are being held with Harold Reheis, a former director of the state Environmental Protection Divsion. Reheis has been hired at a cost of $5,000 per month to assist in reviewing the county's alternatives. Some of the ideas currently being studied are reservoirs, wells, and withdrawal from the Chattahoochee river. The county hopes to have a handle on the alternatives before the Georgia General Assembly convenes in January.
