Reports are circulating of sightings of packs of coyotes moving around in the south end of the county. They have been sighted in the NE and SE areas. All of the land clearing in the 141 corridor has put a lot of pressure on the wild life in the area. This has pushed the coyotes back off the main road woods and into the subdivsion creek corridors looking for food.
Two cats disappeared Friday night July 11 in the Raskarity / Bridle Ridge area next to Raskarity Lake. They were both daytime outside large male cats that lived in 2 different hosueholds near each other. These houses back up to the small wooded corridor form 141 into the head end of the Johns Creek corridor. These cats always came in at dark. They never came home Friday night 7/11/08. This points to the daytime prowling for food by a pack capable of taking down two large cats at once. There is probably a pack of coyotes in the Johns Creek corridor between Brookwood, 141 and McGinnis Ferry Rd. triangle. You can view this corridor from an ariel photograph at www.creekkeeper.org. This is a serious safety, health and property threat to the area. If you have any news about this email editor@forsythcounty.com and we will post it. You can also pass it on to the county animal control. If you see the pack call 911. |
