County Looking into Fence Height Restrictions Print E-mail
Monday, 07 April 2008
The Forsyth County Commissioners asked staff March 25 to look into possible revisions of fence height in the county code.
Commissioner Linda Ledbetter said the government shouldn't be involved. She sees nothing wrong with a 10, 12 or 14-foot high privacy fence and if you don't want to see it plant some landscaping. She said government is taking too much hold over people's lives and that's not government's job.
Commission Chairman Charles Laughinghouse said unmaintained privacy fences look bad. Commissioner Jim Harrell said he felt an eight foot high maximum was ideal. He said he thinks that 8-feet high is enough for anything. If they want more, they can come and ask for it.
The commissioners will continue this discussion at a later date.
