Tax board member says his removal will hurt the public
Tuesday, 24 June 2008

Mike Busse says the public may be the loser in the Forsyth County Commission's failure last week to reappoint him to the county's five-member Board of Tax Assessors. One member of the board already has been declared temporarily ineligible to vote and, with his removal, Busse said Monday night that the process for residents to appeal their tax bills could be harmed. "If you can't get a quorum (three members), the appeals process grinds to a screeching halt, and so does the tax digest," he said. "This political move they did, I don't think they looked into very far. If they had, they probably would have heard: This is probably not a good time to play politics with the amount of appeals coming in."
