The eStep Foundation was created to give college bound students assistance with the cost of tuition as well as to provide a stimulus to thinking “outside the box” when it comes to working for a company versus starting one. Our hopes are that this fund will sow the seeds of entrepreneurship into the young minds of tomorrow's Bill Gates or Ted Turners.

There are two categories of scholarships:

  1. Entrepreneur
  2. Mentor

Dictionary.com defines an entrepreneur as:

A person who organizes, operates, and assumes the risk for a business venture.

In the late 90’s, America's business landscape was alive with dot com's and e-businesses springing up left and right.  Thinking “outside the box” was the de rigueur of our time.  Due to current market forces we no longer hear of the exploits of these business mavericks striking out on their own.  The thinking has shifted dramatically back to business as usual with college graduates dreaming of jobs with today’s Fortune 500 companies.

This upcoming school year, 2002/2003, three (3) scholarships will be awarded on behalf of the foundation to recognize and reward students that submit business plans based on businesses they are interested in starting.

To enter, you must submit a scholarship registration form (available in your guidance counselors office) along with your business plan.  Your business plan should include as much detail as possible of all aspects of designing and implementing a business from the original idea to the process in operating and marketing information.

This is a local scholarship. Only students in the Alpharetta, Roswell, and South Forsyth schools ar  e eligible.   **This is not a national program.**

Guidelines for eligibility are as follows:

  • Must be a current Senior student in Alpharetta, Roswell, or South Forsyth schools

  • Letters of recommendation are accepted but not required
  • No minimum SAT or GSAT scores required
